Code Of Conduct
1. Smoking, chewing of gum and consumption of food and/or beverages. (Users will not be allowed to enter the library with food and/or beverages including bottled water.)

2. Possession of weapons

3. The use of mobile phones in the library. (Please make and take calls outside the library.)

3.Obscene language is not PROHIBITED!

4. Misuse of Internet facilities as well as viewing obscene and pornographic sites are NOT ALLOWED!

5. Damage to and/or loss of materials and failure to return materials on time. (This will incur charges.)

6. The unauthorized removal of library items without permission. (If this occurs, it will be deemed as theft.)

7. No bags allowed (lockers are provided)

* Circulation/ Borrowing

FAQ

(a) Who can borrow the materials?

Students, lecturers, stakeholders and staff are welcomed to use books and the facilities in the library. However, of necessity, library materials can be circulated only to registered members of IRC.


(b) How do I become a registered member of IRC?

(1) Fill out the registration form (can be obtained at IRC
or students services)

(2) Accept the invitation link received from librarika (our
online library)


(c) What if I need the item longer?

(1) You can renew your books in person at the
Information Resource Center (IRC) circulation desk,
and you don't even need to have the books with you
to renew them if you have a photo ID.

(2) You make the request via telephone

(please note, books may be renewed after twenty-four hours if there are no request and they can only be renewed twice)


(d) What if I’m late returning library materials, or I lost/
damaged the book(s)?

A fine of $5.00 is charged per day (excluding Sundays and holidays) is charged for each overdue book. Students are required to pay the cost for lost or damaged book (s).


(e) What if the item I want is already checked out?

If the book (s) you wish is checked out, you may ask to be notified when it is available.


(f) How many items can I borrow?

Students can borrow two (2) books for two (2) days during the semester.

Students can borrow two (2) periodical for a maximum of two (2) days.

Non-books such as DVDs etc. are available upon request and are to be used in the library only.

Lectures can borrow two (2) books per course for a semester.

Lecturers can borrow two (2) additional text for a maximum of two (2) days,

By logging into your librarika’s account and clicking on “booking history”


* Inter-library loan

FAQ

(a) What is an inter-library loan?

The Information Resource Center (IRC) offer Inter-library Loan services to its users to obtain books, articles, and other material not available through the Library's collections. If given the citation, we will find a library willing to lend the item to us or to scan and send us a copy.


(b) Can the materials be borrowed from the inter-library
loan?

Circulating books are loaned through this system to Lecturers only.

FAQ

(a) What is reference Service?

Selecting the right reference source, types of reference sources, where and how to find reference sources, and reference sources available via the Web. This can be done by requesting assisting from the Information Resource Center (IRC) staff through the means of the phone or in person.


(b) What is the function of the reference department?

There are three main types of reference assistance:

(1) Assistance or instruction in the use of the library,
including location of materials, use of the catalog, use
of computers to access information, and the use
of basic reference sources.

(2) Assistance in identifying library materials needed to
answer a question.

(3) Providing brief, factual answers to questions, such as
addresses, statistics, phone numbers, etc. that can be
quickly located.


(c) How can I identify reference materials?

Reference materials are marked REF


(d) Can I borrow reference materials?

Reference materials are to be used in the library only.


(e) What are reference Sources?

Reference sources such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, almanacs, atlases, etc. are research tools that can help you with your paper or project. Reference sources provide answers to specific questions, such as brief facts, statistics, and technical instructions; provide background information; or direct you to additional information sources.

Students who wish to access this service must make a twenty-four (24) hours request to the Information Resource Center (IRC) staff.


(b) Is there a cost for photocopying?

Black and white copy per page - $1.50

Coloured copy per page – $3.00 and up

(a) How do I print at the library?

There are nine (9) computers available at the Information Resource Center (IRC) for the users which are connected to a printer.


(b) Is there a cost for printing?

Presently, only ring binding is done.
